Singer and Grocery Museum in Finsterwalde
When G. F. Wittke founded his little shop to sell cigarettes and other daily articles in 1850, he did not suspect that this little shop would be one of the most important museums in Finsterwalde which was founded 1981. The traditional decorated grocery shop with its interior from when it was founded, is a typical example of how grocery shops looked like in the first half of the 20th century.
The main point of this museum is to show the retail sector as it once existed - a small shop with products from the GDR, historic vending machines and old commercial signs.
Of course the traditional Singer from Finsterwalde are presented with their Singer song as well as some natural history.
Outside opening hours a visit in groups is possible as long as you send us a request of your visit.
