Industrial Museums
Numerous monuments bear witness to the inventiveness and the clever use of resources during the Industrial Age. In those times, resourceful millers looked for the best way to extract as much of nature's energy as possible. For visitors of the industrial museums in the Elbe-Elster-Land, history comes alive, along with a magnificant view.
It is 502 m long, 202 m wide and 80m high, its weight is 11.000t. The retired conveyor bridge is the biggest of its kind in the world and it is located on the shores of an old open-top mining area nearby Klettwitz.
The „Louise” is the oldest briquette factory in Europe. It is located in the middle of a coniferous forest in Domsdorf, between Wahrenbrück and Doberlug-Kirchhain.
The power plant in Plessa is one of the oldest power plants for brown coal in Europe. Like huge towers the two chimneys stick out to the sky.
