Briquette factory Louise

The „Louise” is the oldest briquette factory in Europe. It is located in the middle of a coniferous forest in Domsdorf, between Wahrenbrück and Doberlug-Kirchhain. In 1882 the „Louise“ was put into operation for the first time. With its daily production of 600t it was one of the smallest factories in our region. After being retired in 1991, it became a technical monument in 1992. Most impressive is its 68m high chimney, which you can see from a far distance. During your visit the installation is reactivated – a unique demonstration of a briquette factory which was built in 1893, originally run with steam.

The great hall often is the host for concerts and exhibitions. The briquette factory “Louise” is a station of the Coal, Wind and Water Tour.
